The Fatalii is one of the first C. chinense peppers I successfully grew in 2022. On tasting it, I knew it was something special!
This cultivar has a fairly standard C. chinense growth habit, favouring a dense flat canopy after the Y split, with two flowers per node. Pods can come in looking gnarly!
The flavour is a classic. A bright, light flavour with no hints of floral, this chilli is an absolute delight to eat. The heat creeps in slowly, but builds way beyond its advertised SHU. If you eat a decent chunk it can feel closer to 1mil SHU than 500k! This unique characteristic is down to its unsual capsaicinoid profile, leading it to become a powerhouse of some of the hottest crosses around, such as the Primotalii and Hallowed Flame.
The Fatalii pepper originates from South Africa, created from imported chillies from the Americas.
