This is a unique pepper with its past shrouded in mystery, equally it is a very pleasant looking ornamental pepper!
The plant forms a very dense canopy packed with flowers, similar to other ornamental annuum peppers. The pods come in pale green, and change through to orange. Pods are occasionally streaked with anthocyanin.
The flavour is pretty good for an ornamental, not unpleasant, very umame and earthy, certainly better than other ornamental examples.
The origin of this pepper is quite dubious, with informational records from Reddit leading me to believe that the Volante Peach began its life as a commercial F1 hybrid, red in colour, from which the peach phenotype was eventually derived and stabilised.
