ISOTOPE CHILLIES
Thunder Mountain Longhorn

Description

A Chinese annuum pepper with world records to its name, this is the go-to pepper when trying to grow the world's longest chilli - this record is actually very accessible.

The growth habit is like other annuum peppers, tall and spindly. The pedicels, like the pods themselves, are extremely long, and this can look almost comical when the plants are immature. When the plant matures, they look smart and unique, with dense canopies pierced by long spindly pods.

The flavour is nothing of note, typical red pepper flavour, but it can also dry out some during ripening, which causes an unpleasant leathery texture. This can be avoided by fully dehydrating and powdering.

This is an heirloom variety discovered in the Thunder Mountain (Leigongshan) region of China, the product of many years of artificial selection by locals.
