A beautifully stunning wild variety from Central America, specifically Guatamala.
This species is part of the Andean Clade, and has 26 chromosomes.
This plant has a truly unique growth habit, forming long spindly branches that eventually give rise to flower buds later in the year. The calyx teeth are curved backwards and elongated, giving this species very special characteristics. The flowers are campanulate, with striking violet vertical stripes.
The taste is unremarkable, bland, berry like. It's more savoury than sweet.
